€80 / $87 Oneway from San Francisco to Europe + Free Stopover in Lisbon (Only Cabin Bags)

TAP Portugal A330

Star Alliance carrier TAP Portugal keeps pumping out insane oneway fares from the United States to Europe. This time, the carrier offers to take you from San Francisco to London (both Gatwick and Heathrow), Barcelona, Paris or Rome as low as €80 (~US$89)! A checked bag comes at the price of €60 (~US$67). All of these flights have a layover in Lisbon, that you can stretch out up to five days without increasing the flight costs.

You can find these flights in late 2020 and early 2021. Please be careful when booking in these troubled times, as the fare is not refundable!

Update

This great offer is still available. On some days, you will only find the cheapest fare when booking via an online travel agency, which might be bothersome for various reasons. We have updated the availability calendar to show you all dates on which the cheapest tickets are sold by TAP.

Gatwick at €80

Heathrow at €80

Barcelona at €91

Paris at €100

Rome at €119

TP SFO LGW 80
€80 from the US West Coast to London. Simply incredible.

TAP sends brand-new Airbus A330-900 NEO aircraft on its four weekly services from San Francisco to Lisbon. It features a 2-4-2 seating pattern in economy class. Connecting flights feature A320 family aircraft.

Warning

We expect major shakeups in the airline industry over the following months. Some services might be cancelled, aircraft changed or downgraded. The schedule we describe was planned under different economic circumstances and may very well change.

Search & Book

We were not able to retrieve fare rules for this gem and therefore cannot tell you when it’s going to expire. But it shows almost daily availability. We’ve compiled all possible travel dates for you:

The calendar will forward you to skyscanner. Even if you find cheaper tickets via online travel agencies, we recommend booking with the airline. This way, you can add bags without paying extra fees to an OTA, you get an additional $12 discount from TAP (if you subscribe to their Miles&Go frequent flyer program) and – most importantly – you can add a lengthy stopover without increasing the flight cost.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend to book with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

  1. Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airlines has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.
If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward you information like flight changes instead receiving them directly from the airline. You may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem solving.
This especially applies for premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.
  2. Baggage Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are more and more common. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.
Select TAP
TAP gives a €10 / $12 discount on its booking site when subscribing to Miles&Go.

Adding a Stopover in Lisbon or Porto

When going to our flight search and selecting to book via flytap.com, you will be greeted by this user-friendly pop up:

TAP Stopover offer
Add a stopover on flytap.com.

It allows you to add a stopover in Portugal without much hassle, or continue your booking without a stopover. It was never easier to extend your trip without paying more for your flights.

* What the star implies: Links marked with a * mean that we will receive a commission if a booking or a specific action is made via the linked provider. There will be no additional costs for you, and in return, we can offer you Travel-Dealz without annoying display advertisement. Also, we won't receive any money just by setting links.
