Terms & Conditions

To answer the most important question directly – it is impossible to gain a frequent flyer tier out of this promotion. You would require 25,000 tier miles to get Etihad Guest Silver, however the maximum amount of bonus tier miles is limited to 20,000.

Further, you need to be rather careful when transferring your miles, as there another limit of 5,000 tier miles per transaction. To get the maximum of 20,000 tier miles to your account, you need to do at least four transactions.

Etihad has announced than you can transfer miles or points from the following programs:

To be able to participate in this promotion, you will need an Etihad Guest account as well as an account at one of the above hotels’, shops’ or banks’ loyalty programs. The promotion ends on August 30, 2020, with that day being the last to possibly transfer reward points.

Info

A quick reminder for those who are not too familiar with frequent flyer programs:

Reward Miles are used to buy reward tickets or upgrades. Tier miles are accumulated to reach a frequent flyer tier, granting perks like free checked bags or lounge access.

Bottom Line

Since it is impossible to gain a frequent flyer tier out of nowhere, this offer isn’t too attractive. However, if you’re just a couple of thousand miles short of a tier, this promotion is a handy way to do it in times when flying with Etihad is very difficult to downright impossible for many people. As always, you should only transfer reward miles or points when you have a plan to use them, as airlines can devalue them on short notice.
