Oktoberfest München

Star Alliance airline Lufthansa is selling cheap tickets to one of its main hubs: Munich. The Bavarian metropolis is one of Germany’s highlights, and from certain European countries, you can get a Lufthansa roundtrip for less than €100! There’s high availability throughout this year’s autumn.

Here are the cities, from which you can fly to Munich at a discounted price:

Lufthansa roundtrips to Munich for only €85

The flights are usually operated with Airbus A320 aircraft. You’ll get a small snack and something to drink. Luggage, however, costs €35 for the roundtrip.

Warning

We expect major shakeups in the airline industry over the following months. Some services might be cancelled, aircraft changed or downgraded. The schedule we describe was planned under different economic circumstances and may very well change.

Search & Book

The fare rules only state a minimum stay requirement of 3 days (or a Saturday or Sunday). We found availability from mid-September until late December/early January. You can find all available dates on Google Flights. You should then book directly on Lufthansa’s website.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend to book with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

  1. Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airlines has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.
If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward you information like flight changes instead receiving them directly from the airline. You may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem solving.
This especially applies for premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.
  2. Baggage Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are more and more common. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

Miles

The tickets are issued in booking class K. An Oslo-Munich roundtrip should get you:

  • 490 on ANA Mileage Club
  • 410 on United MileagePlus
  • 250 on SAS EuroBonus
  • 250 on Miles & More
